Overview

This guide is intended for appropriately trained service personnel and technicians who need to install some Arista network data center switches. Receiving and Inspecting the

Equipment When you receive the switch

 Inspect the shipping container for external damage. If you believe any part of your shipment is damaged, please save the packaging. Your carrier may need to verify them.

If the box was not damaged during shipping, carefully unpack it. Please be careful not to throw away the accessories that are included in the same box as the main unit.

Please check the packing list and ensure you have received all items listed. Compare your order with the packing list. The parts list contains a list of components included in the switch.

Installation Process The following tasks are required to install and use the

switch.

Select and prepare the installation site (site selection).

Gather the installation tools listed (tools and parts required for installation). Install the

mounting brackets and install the switch in the equipment rack (Mount the switch into the rack). Connect the

switch to power and network devices (wiring the switch).

Configure the switch (Configure Switch).

 

Important: Class 1 Laser Product:

This product has provisions for the installation of a Class 1 laser transceiver that provides optical coupling to a communications network. Once you install a Class 1 laser product, the equipment becomes a Class 1 laser product. The customer is responsible for selecting and installing a Class 1 laser transceiver and ensuring that, after use, the permissible limits for Class 1 emissions in accordance with EN/IEC 60825, CSA E60825-1, and Code of Federal Regulations 21 CFR 1040 are not exceeded.
